Derbyshire Blue John Sterling Silver Rectangular Drop Earrings

We have for sale a stunning pair of sterling silver Blue John medium sized drop earrings. They have been hand crafted in Castleton. The earrings have a rectangular shape and are set with unique pieces of Derbyshire Blue John, with a solid silver back. They fasten with a shepherds crook fasten.

Blue John stone is a rare, semi precious mineral, fluorite, found at only one location in the world. This is at Treak Cliff Cavern which is at the western end of Hope Valley near Castleton in Derbyshire, England. The name Blue John derives from the French Bleu Jaune, meaning Blue John. It was first discovered by miners exploring the cavern for lead.
